What’s Your Genre?

A question to ponder on a Monday…

If your life were a novel, what genre would it be?

I’d like to think of mine as magical realism (hey, I can dream) with a hint Salinger-esque coming of age angst, but it’s probably more “literary chick lit.”

What’s yours?

  1. Jack Reacher novel. In fact, as I write this comment, I'm actually deep in the heart of the American mid-west, foiling a massive government conspiracy involving home-grown terrorists, corrupt politicians, and a devastatingly beautiful double-agent. How little you all know me.

  2. I was going to say romantic comedy, but since I'm happily married, the whole “boy meets girl, boy loses girl, lather, rinse repeat” part of it wouldn't quite work.

So now I'm thinking my life would be… overgrown YA chick lit. Or something similar to the more bouncy, ridiculous parts of GLEE (and not just because I like to burst into song frequently).

  3. Hmmm . . . fun question, but I have to think about this. Someone told me I was Anne of Green Gables just yesterday. And perhaps not to far off (minus the red hair). I want to say comedy, but I have been accused of living the fairy tale life. I don't know. This is harder than I thought! 🙂

  4. Mine would be a tragedy. Haha! I feel like an old soul. There would be Godfather-esque music playing and occasionally Lawrence of Arabia when I travel. I'd be just literary, though. With one of those angsty, dysfunctional families — a family of businessmen not artists.

Dark comedy, too. I find humor (and hope) in mundane subjects.
